A highlight of a recent trip to New Zealand was visiting Stewart and Ulva Islands and seeing some fascinating birds. Photography was rather tricky in the gloomy winter light.
Kelp Gull or Karoro, hovering over Lake Wanaka
Yellowhead or Mohua on Ulva Island – gorgeous rare endemic
South Island Robin – very friendly birds
The handsome Kaka – a forest parrot – on Ulva Island
Variable Oystercatcher (black morph) in New Zealand
The very cute Tomtit seen on Stewart Island
